See you in 2021!
The Midwest Banjo Fest will be celebrating its 57th anniversary in 2021!. After a brief beginning in the Twin Cities, this riverboat banjo event quickly moved to La Crosse – a city that has a profound Mississippi River history, especially of steamboats carrying passengers, merchandise and musicians who performed on the boats. Banjo players and other musicians from all parts of the United States, Canada and Japan have attended this musical extravaganza. From Friday night through Sunday night “The banjos are back in town”, entertaining as only they can.
You’ll hear amateurs and professionals providing musical memories at several La Crosse locations. The main jamboree is held Sunday afternoon in the big hall of La Crosse American Legion post – a structure that housed the Governor’s guard in the 1800’s. Rumor has it they all played banjos.
