The UW-La Crosse Jazz Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble will perform a joint concert of classic big band pieces, Latin-jazz and contemporary compositions. The concert is set for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, in The Bluffs of the UWL Student Union, 521 East Ave. N. La Crosse. Admission is free.
Among the composers featured in the concert are Tom Garling, Michael Philip Mossman, James Miley and Gordon Goodwin. Each group also features a vocalist. Cassandra Quinn will sing three songs from the Ella Fitzgerald songbook with the Jazz Orchestra. Michael Myers will perform songs associated with Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr., with the Jazz Ensemble.
Jeff Erickson, UWL Director of Jazz Studies, directs both groups.
