Located just south of La Crosse, WI directly on the Mississippi River, Goose Island is the perfect spot to take the family for a weekend of camping. Bring a boat, kayak, or canoe to spend some time exploring the backwaters of the Mississippi River or fish right from the campground. You can also hike the interpretive trail and experience the river on foot.

Goose Island Campground

Nestled along the Mississippi River in La Crosse, Wisconsin, Goose Island Campground offers a serene retreat for camping enthusiasts. Goose Island S Boat Ramp

Put your kayak, canoe or boat in at either the south boat ramp right by the campground, or the north one at the tip of the island. Of the two, you’ll have quicker access to the backwaters from the north ramp. From there you can either float the main channel past the campground or explore the backwaters on the west of the island. Goose Island Interpretive Trail

Walk along the interpretive trail through the backwaters of the Mississippi River. Along the way you’ll learn a little bit about the history of the river. You’ll get to enjoy the sounds of the Mighty Mississippi River so keep quiet and listen for the migratory birds calling. Keep your eyes peeled for local turtle residents as well.
