| Celebrate America’s 250th With the Eagles! |
It’s a party and you’re invited! Every year the National Eagle Center celebrates Bald Eagle Day on or around June 20 to commemorate the removal of the Bald Eagle from the Endangered Species List in 2007. This year is an especially unique celebration as we not only celebrate the remarkable recovery of the Bald Eagle from the brink of extinction, but also an important milestone in the history of the very nation for which it is the living National Symbol and National Bird – the 250th Anniversary! We invite our members, members of the Wabasha community, and the general public to join us for this celebration on Saturday, June 20! The day will start with a flag-raising ceremony at 10 a.m. outside the front entrance of the Riverfront Building conducted by members Wabasha Legion Post #50 and Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Post #4086. That will be immediately followed by brief comments from invited dignitaries in the Riverfront Amphitheater and a FREE public eagle program at 10:30 a.m. Additional activities will include Native American dancing courtesy of Native Pride Productions at 12:30 p.m., a FREE public eagle program at 2:30 p.m., exhibits by Oxbow Park & Zollman Zoo, all-day chainsaw carving with raffle for a new Bald Eagle statue, minnow racing, the new Symbols and Celebration exhibit in the American Eagle Gallery, kids crafts with artist Teaki Garcia, FREE Dilly Bars courtesy of Wabasha Dairy Queen, walking tacos from Wabasha Lions Club, and MORE!
