La Crosse Jazz Orchestra Presents Free Outdoor Concert at Riverside Park
La Crosse, WI – Prepare to enjoy a spectacular evening of music as the La Crosse Jazz Orchestra presents the final concert of the summer series. On Sunday, August 2, at 7:00 p.m., Riverside Park in La Crosse, Wisconsin, will become a lively gathering spot for music lovers. Residents and visitors alike are invited to enjoy the melodies of live big band jazz, all set against the scenic backdrop of the Mississippi River.
This concert’s theme, "Cabaret Sentiments, Cabaret Singers," offers a blend of soulful vocals and dynamic big band jazz. The evening's lineup includes Andy Temte, known for his engaging performances with the Remainders. He will perform classic tunes made famous by Michael Bublé. Making his debut with the LJO is Norbert Nix, whose career in Nashville as a music executive and producer adds a touch of experience. Known locally as the lead vocalist of Phoenix, Nix will perform a Big Band rendition of "Stairway To Heaven."
The talented Kim Shively will take the stage once more, showcasing her vocal skills on Christopher Cross's hit "Ride Like The Wind." Adding to the evening's nostalgic atmosphere, the Andrews Sisters trio—Corissa Vought-Carey, Sarah Jackson, and Cassi Pacelli—were able to reschedule after our cancellation two weeks ago. The trio will perform a delightful set, including the classic "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy."
In addition to the vocal favorites, the band will feature pianist Dave Marck on “Someday My Prince Will Come.” This outdoor concert offers a perfect summer evening, welcoming music lovers of all ages to enjoy a relaxed and harmonious night. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to create their cozy spot on the grass. Best of all, the event is free and open to the public, emphasizing the orchestra’s commitment to community-centered arts experiences.
Mark your calendars for a night of rhythm, camaraderie, and musical enjoyment!
