Mt. La Crosse has been the La Crosse Region’s premier ski destination since 1959. As one of the top outdoor activities to do in La Crosse in the winter, Mt. La Crosse is an essential part of any Midwest winter itinerary.

There’s a slope for every skier

La Crosse has 18 slopes and trails, ranging from gentle Mileaway, Wisconsin’s longest run, to Damnation, Mid-America’s steepest trail. With the widest variety of skiing and snowboarding terrain in the Midwest, and lessons for all ages in their accredited school, Mt. La Crosse has something for novice and veteran ski and snowboarders alike.

Après-ski like you’re in the Alps

Mt. La Crosse’s unique A-frame chalet offers food service, a complete ski shop, rentals, repairs, and an award-winning bar, all close to the slopes. With windows overlooking the slopes, it’s hard to find a cozier spot to enjoy the Wisconsin winter. While at the chalet, the Saint Bernard Room is a can’t-miss stop, with decor celebrating the iconic Alpine hero, the Saint Bernard.

No snow? No problem.

If Mother Nature doesn’t provide the snow, Mt. La Crosse has equipment to make their own. With more than 20 snow machines, a lack of snow won’t keep snowboarders or skiers off of the slopes.

Freestyle with the best of them

Show off your skills at Mt. La Crosse’s Terrain Park, which includes a variety of jumps, bars, tubes, boxes and more! This area is changes frequently based on weather and new park builds, and is designed for expert level skiers and snowboarders.

Speed, snow, and race day spirit

Mt. La Crosse hosts numerous races throughout the winter, including the Wisconsin State High School Ski & Snowboard Championships, the US Collegiate Ski & Snowboard Association Midwest Race, the Dan Nagy Memorial Ski Race, and local ski races for all ages. Whether racing or cheering, there is no shortage of race day energy.

Bonus season: Summer on the slopes

When the temperatures rise, the trails don’t close. Mt. La Crosse is host to trail running events, live music, yoga classes, weddings, and more throughout the warmer months, making the most of the beautiful summers in the La Crosse Region.
