Friends of the Refuge—Mississippi River Pools 7 & 8 are proud to welcome a display of art by Colleen Shore to the Prairie Wind Nature Store at the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge—La Crosse District Visitor Center. Shore, a local artist from Onalaska, Wisconsin, paints in oil capturing local scenery. On display is her collection of bird-themed artwork, “Feathered Friends” and recent works depicting prairie scenes.
Join us for a special appearance by the artist on Saturday, May 2! Colleen and other local artists will be painting “en plein air” (the art of painting outdoors!) in the Refuge. Stop by and see their paintings as they progress, meet the artists and be sure to check out Colleen’s display in the Prairie Wind Nature Store inside the Visitor Center.
Visitors may purchase the artwork by contacting the artist directly at cshoreartwork@gmail.com. Her work will be on display through May 2026. Art is another way to appreciate our wonderful Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge!
