Spring at Second Nature at Reads Creek is anything but quiet! Our nursery comes alive with the chorus of frogs, and this year, we’re diving into the sounds of the season with a special Frog Call Program.
Join us as we welcome frog enthusiast Ben Johnston, volunteer for Wisconsin Frog and Toad Survey. Ben can imitate the calls of all 11 frog species and the 1 toad species in Wisconsin. You’ll learn how to identify them by sound (spoiler alert: none of them say “Ribbit”) and even try your hand—or voice—at calling like a frog yourself!
What You’ll Learn: How to identify Wisconsin’s frogs and toads by ear, Fun mnemonics to help you remember their calls, How to participate in the Wisconsin Frog & Toad Survey (WFTS) and be part of real citizen science
This program is best with a bunch of kids in the audience—because when kids join in the frog call fun, it’s pure MAGIC!
(Adults, you’re important too—bring the kids and join the fun!)
Come prepared to laugh, learn, and leave knowing your “Peep” from your “Creeeek.” See you there!
What’s provided: This program is FREE, courtesy of Wisconsin Frog and Toad Survey.
