On this adventure, you will spend most of the day exploring the La Crosse region in Wisconsin AND Minnesota. If you like walking, sightseeing, and being outdoors, this adventure is for you! Spending a day immersed in outdoor activities in the La Crosse region offers an unparalleled experience of natural beauty and adventure.

Destinations

With its picturesque bluffs, winding rivers, and lush greenery, the region provides a stunning backdrop for exploration and recreation. There’s no shortage of ways to connect with nature.

Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Your trip begins at The Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Although a religious site, the shrine is worth visiting whether you’re religious or not to sightsee and stroll through. The landscape is beautiful and along the walk, you can visit a chapel, church, and memorial. At the top of the hill, there are works of art on a rosary walk and sculptures for the way of the cross. Grandad Bluff

Your next stop is Grandad Bluff, a park about 590 feet above the surrounding landscape, offering panoramic views of the Mississippi River Valley, La Crosse, and the surrounding region. It’s a popular spot for locals and visitors alike, offering hiking trails, picnic areas, and opportunities for outdoor recreation. You can drive up to the top of this city park and take a short walk to the viewpoints or hike here if you have time. PC @goingandexploring

Riverside Park

After eating, the adventure continues at Riverside Park. Riverside Park is a public park that stretches across the Mississippi River with open space to hang out and enjoy the river views. There’s also a free International Friendship garden that represents the countries of La Crosse’s seven sister cities. I recommend strolling through the garden and taking some pictures. Apple Blossom Scenic Drive

After the park, drive across the iconic blue bridge to Minnesota and hop on Apple Blossom Scenic Drive in La Crescent, Minnesota. Apple Blossom Drive is a picturesque route known for its stunning views of apple orchards and blooming apple trees during the springtime. Even if you don’t catch the apple blossoms, there are multiple beautiful viewpoints. PC @goingandexploring

Huck Finn’s On The Water

After exploring Apple Blossom Drive, continue your outdoor adventure at Huck Finn’s On The Water for lunch/dinner. The restaurant has panoramic river views with indoor and outdoor seating and the menu has everything from burgers and drinks to seafood and steaks. Huck Finn’s on the Water is worth visiting whether you’re having a relaxed or romantic dinner. PC @goingandexploring
