Norskedalen allows you to experience history as you step into the full-immersion museum known as the Bekkum Homestead. Enter the buildings that were actually built and lived in during the 1860s through the mid 1900s. These historic buildings are witnesses to the lives and stories of generations before us. Our buildings bring history to life and weave that history into our lives as a connection to those who came before us as well as with one another. The structures found at Norskedalen document the heritage, struggles, and traditions of Norwegian immigrants who came to the Coon Valley area.
Once done with your tour of the homestead and Visitor Center museums and gift shop, enjoy the treasure trove of natural beauty offered at Norskedalen. Visitors can explore mature forests, blooming prairies, and spring-fed streams and ponds on our miles of hiking trails as they weave through the valley and bluffs alike. These 400 acres of ever-changing landscape are a perfect way to experience and enjoy the breathtaking beauty of Norskedalen and the Driftless Region!
