Home to some of the finest performances, festivals and exhibits in the region, the School of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) is a staple to the La Crosse culture. Students pursue their passions in the visual arts, music, and theatre and dance, whether earning a degree or engaging in the many academic course offerings in the VPA.
The internationally awarded theatre & dance program boasts graduates who have found rewarding careers both on stage and behind the scenes in professional theatres and prime-time TV shows. On-campus art exhibits reflect the artistic pursuits of majors and minors who receive opportunities to explore the six areas of studio concentration in the Department of Art. Presenting 60+ performances annually, the Department of Music allows musicians from all over campus to continue performing in our regionally-recognized ensembles alongside music majors who complete music degree programs accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
Students involved in the arts have the opportunity to live in a dedicated “Arts Living & Learning Community” in the newly remodeled Wentz Hall, just steps away from the Lowe Fine Arts Center. The School of VPA contributes profoundly to the cultural richness and diversity at UWL. Whether seeking a rewarding career or the opportunity to explore the arts, the VPA welcomes students from the entire campus community! VPA offers the following productions for the entire communities enjoyment:
7 Mainstage Theatre & Dance Productions
