100^th Anniversary Interpretive Series

Hone your winter birding skills just in time for this year’s Great Backyard Bird Count! As part of the 100th
Anniversary Interpretive Series, join Ranger Steve Bodovinitz on Thursday, February 15 from 1:00 p.m. to
2:00 p.m. at the La Crosse District Visitor Center for a Backyard Birding Basics presentation.
Birding is an interactive and immersive way to experience wildlife on the Refuge. The Upper Mississippi
River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge is situated in world-class birding territory along the Mississippi
Flyway, making it one of the most popular activities for locals and destination birders alike. Stop by to learn
the basics you’ll need to get started, tips and tricks, and common winter birds in the Greater La Crosse area
this time of year. This event will be taking place the day prior to the Great Backyard Bird Count, which is a
global event from February 16 – 19.
The Backyard Birding Basics presentation is a free event and will be taking place in a classroom-style venue
