Citizen scientists of all ages are invited to participate in the Driftless Area BioBlitz (DABB) 2022 Nature Challenge which kicks off on Sunday, April 24th at the La Crosse Earth Fair. The 5-month program is offered by a collaboration of local organizations that focus on outdoor education, led by Strive 2 Thrive Coulee Region.

The 2022 Nature Challenge is a FREE ongoing bioblitz in which participants use their cell phones or cameras and computer, to upload as many observations as they can in their yard, nearby park or trail, or anywhere in La Crosse or the Driftless Region. Public observations of “all things nature” will help document the incredible biodiversity of the driftless region. Become a “Member” on the DABB 2022 Nature Challenge iNaturalist project page to be eligible to win prizes!

Spotlight on Nature is a series of FREE, in-person events to be held throughout the Spring, Summer and Fall and is part of DABB’s 2022 Nature Challenge. There will be eight different events, each focusing on various taxa like fungi, moss and lichens, pollinator plants, birds, and insects, including nocturnal and decomposer species. The events offer an opportunity for nature lovers of all ages to participate in a bioblitz with experts sharing their passion for and knowledge of the driftless region. All events are free and will also be broadcast live on our facebook page (@DriftlessAreaBioBlitz) for those unable to attend; registration is required for most events. Events are weather-dependent and we will be following CDC COVID guidelines. To find a listing of the events, go to: strive2thrivecr.org/DABB
