Come enjoy the fall migration! As the seasons turn colder, thousands of swans, diving and dabbling ducks, and other water birds move through the Refuge, finding a place to rest, relax, and refuel. A Refuge naturalist will be available to help visitors identify the birds they’re seeing and learn more about the migration.

The overlook will be staffed from 10am – 2pm during the first three weekends in November on Saturdays and Sundays: Nov 5 and Nov 6, Nov 12 and Nov 13, and Nov 19 and Nov 20. Naturalists’ shifts may be cancelled or end early without warning due to illness or inclement weather.

The Brownsville Overlook is located along MN Hwy 26 about 3 miles south of Brownsville, MN. A portable toilet will be available on site. Please come prepared with lots of warm layers! There’s always an extra chill near the water.

Curious as to how many birds are here? Check out the recent sightings page on the refuge website: https://www.fws.gov/story/2022-10/recent-bird-sightings
