Poetry + Plants: A Summer Writing Workshop – Second Nature at Reads Creek Nursery

How do the blooms of summer inspire you through language? Throughout literary history, poets have a reputation for recording the vibrant foliage and beauty of abundant life in verse. In this workshop we will do just that–by reading and discussing nature poems together and writing our own poems in response to what we find at Second Nature at Reads Creek nursery. Open to adults of all skill levels. Bring a notebook and a desire to write!

Cost: $25 – Please make out a check made out to Nikki Wallschlaeger, or bring cash to the class at S7301 Hwy 14, Readstown the day of class

Nikki Wallschlaeger is the author of 3 books of poetry, recently Waterbaby (Copper Canyon Press), 2021. She was a Visiting Associate Professor of Poetry at the Iowa Writer’s Workshop from 2021/2022. Her work has been featured in national literary journals such as Poetry Magazine, Kenyon Review, and also The Nation. A recent transplant from Milwaukee, she now calls the Driftless area her home.
