“Rabbi Brian Brings Love to the Library.”

Over the past few years, there has been great concern about the rapid increase in incidents of hate speech against various groups of Americans – Jews, Hispanic Americans, Muslims, people of color. Hate speech can sometimes leads to violent, hurtful and even fatal actions.

Last fall, swastikas appeared on campaign signs all over Holmen.
Hate-filled graffiti appeared all over the UWL campus, and other UW campuses.
And La Crosse houses of worship felt threatened as they were targeted by hateful language and pictures on social media.

What’s the best way to defuse such talk? How can we learn to accept people whose beliefs, practices or faith is different from our own?

As our region’s only Jewish spiritual leader, Rabbi Brian Serle has been invited to speak on this subject in many public forums, as well as on television, in the past year. He has been asked to speak from the pulpit at local churches.

Join us March 8 at the Onalaska Public Library to hear Rabbi Brian’s recommendations about how we might combat hate speech.
His simple solution: Show more love, and less hate.
