On Wednesday, March 15th at 10am, the Onalaska Public Library will present a free program on the history of the Royce Jones and Reads Creek Sundial, the world’s largest known armillary sundial. David and Jennifer Tubbin, owners of Second Nature at Reads Creek nursery in Readstown, will share the story of Royce Jones and the armillary sundial he built with friends in the late 80s. Royce Jones was a scientist who worked on the Manhattan Project in 1943-45 and then at several other laboratories over 30 years. Learn a little about his life, legacy and the story of this incredible landmark. Join us as David and Jen share the next chapter of the story to repair this beautiful armillary sundial landmark, which was toppled in a flood several years ago.
