Uprooted: Cuban in Wisconsin LIVE

Back in 1980, almost 15,000 Cuban refugees were sent to Fort McCoy in Sparta, Wisconsin following the mass exodus known as the Mariel Boatlift. Today, 42 years later, some of these exiles still live in the La Crosse area.

On Tuesday, November 15th at 7 p.m., meet some of the Cuban exiles featured in the new podcast, “WPR Reports: Uprooted.” They’ll join cohosts Maureen McCollum of Wisconsin Public Radio and UW-La Crosse associate professor Dr. Omar Granados for a lively conversation about these important events here in southwest Wisconsin.
