This exhibition at the La Crosse Area Heritage Center at 506 Main Street features over 50 artifacts from the E. Hackner Company and those of Egid's daughter, Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration Marietta Hackner. The exhibit runs through October 5, 2024. The Heritage Center is open Thursday-Saturday, 10:30-4:30, last admission at 4:00 pm.

BAT ECOLOGY CAVE TOURS OFFERED IN CRAWFORD COUNTY

Cave visitors on scheduled tours will have a chance to see a stunning limestone cave including underground pools, a 40-foot-high cathedral-like chamber, and beautifully colored stalactites. This special habitat shelters several species of hibernating bats in winter, when the temperature within the cave never goes below 48 degrees. Hibernating bats around the world have been stressed by white nose syndrome, a fungal infection, in recent years.
